Our Charity

The Team

I suppose I had better tell you all a little bit about the characters that make up our little team ,
The Castle Wheelers

THE TEAM (minus Jo)

We are all members of the Castle and Priory Neighbourhood Team and work for the West Midlands Police.

Omar Sharif

The first person on the list is the "Big O" Omar Sharif. He is a PCSO and has been working on the team for several years. He will be part of the support crew taking it in turns to drive the second support vehicle, which was kindly donated for the duration by Dudley Motor Group. (links to the right)
"Big O" will also be taking it in turns with Bev to cycle some of the way. He will be fasting during the day so I hope that he will be able to keep up with the rest of us!

Next we have the aforementioned Bev McCabe. Bev has been a PCSO on this Team since April 2010 and

Bev McCabe
before that worked in Dudley Town Centre. The lucky Bev is the only girl on the trip and so will have to put up with a lot during the two weeks. Bev will also be be sharing the driving of the second support vehicle and cycling some of the way. (Bev the going will be easier than you think! I hope)

Keith Scott

Here we have Keith Scott AKA "Old Father Time". He won't be working with us for long as circumstances have dictated that he hang up his cape and finally retire after 35 years loyal service. All members of the Team would join in saying what a shame this is.
However don't let his white hair lull you into a false sense of security as he is probably the fittest amongst us. While I am puffing away at the back somewhere, Keith can always be found leading the charge someway into the distance. Keith will be part of the brave souls cycling the whole distance.

Tristram Oliver

This fine figure of a man is me, Tristram Oliver. I am a Police Officer and have been working on the Castle and Priory Team since April. I too will be taking part in the whole ride and to be fair I am a bit scared at the moment. I have got so into the actual planning for the ride that I didn't stop to think just how long it is going to be. It is starting to keep me awake at night now!!

John Link

John Link will be the only full time support member of the team. I knew he would one day use his coach driver's licence.
John does like to ride though not enough to ride with us and I for one don't blame him. John is a PCSO on the Team and has worked on the Castle and Priory Team for several years now.

Paul "The Daddy" Davies
This is Paul "The Daddy" Davies and he has worked as a Poilce Officer on the Castle and Priory Team for several years now.
You can clearly see him in the picture proudly taking possession of his new bike (commissioned especially for the trip). Could that grin be any wider?
He is also taking part in the cycling of the ride. Paul was on a diet at the start of the New Year. Between you and me I think he has fallen off the wagon!

Dave is a PCSO and has been with the Castle and Priory Team since April and before that worked with Bev on the Town Centre Team. He is another cyclist that will be riding the whole way. Dave is what is to be considered a "fair weather cyclist" and in the picture you can see he is with his Pinarello and this must have been the first time in several months it had seen the light of day! We all thought he had made it up and was all in his imagination. I have heard he kisses it goodnight!!

Dave Grove

The only picture of Jo I could find!

Well this is the final member of our Team. A PCSO who I would like to call "Shy Jo". Jo used to work with us on the Castle and Priory Team but left for greener pastures just before Christmas. As you can see, Jo doesn't like having her picture taken and well deserves her nick name!

That is the whole team though we wouldn't be able to complete or even plan the ride without loads of help from our family, friends and people we cold call and ask for favours. I would like to thank them all for their help and patience! July isn't that far down the line so not long until the pain begins.
